Three fun facts about NZ

This week I am learning some fun facts about New Zealand that I haven't already known yet.

  1. Kia ora Ayla,

My name is Rachel and I am working with Izzy, Patricia, Sophie and Lee on the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) programme at Pt England school this year. It is wonderful to see that you have already completed four activities for the SLJ.

Like you, there are so many facts about our home country that I did not know before working on the programme this year. One of my favourite facts is the news that we were the first nation to give women the right to vote. That is pretty extraordinary! As a woman, I am really glad that we are all allowed to vote. Did you know that there are still countries in the world where women can't vote? It makes me very proud to be a kiwi!

What makes you proud to be kiwi? Are there any specific things about New Zealand that you really like? I personally like it that we are so friendly and that we take good care of our environment.

Speaking of the environment, I hope that you'll have time to continue with your learning journey this summer. We have 56 other great activities related to New Zealand and to the world around us!

Hope to see you back online when you are able to join us again.

    Warm regards,
    Rachel :)
